Natioanl Fur Trade Symposium in La Junta Sept. 23-26

National Fur Trade Symposium

September 23-26, 2015 at Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site in La Junta, CO

Come experience what life was like in 1842! Over 50 living history interpreters, including the Santa Fe Trail traders, independent trappers, Indians, fort hunters, craftsmen, and more, will come together to host lectures, presentations, and demonstrations as a way of bringing the past back to life.  Teachers, historians, students, families, and all those interested are welcome!

Teachers scholarships are available that include:
  • $500 towards registration, lodging and/or sub fees
  • 36 hours of seat time for renewal of licensure after the seminar
  • An additional 36 hours for completion of the resources. 
  • Training and access to primary sources to be used in the classroom and the TPS Teachers Network

The full conference will include meals, full day and evening events, formal presentations, and a banquet. Plenty of lodging is available as well, and be sure to reference the Fur Trade Symposium when making a reservation.
