Accepting Applications for 2016-2017 Fellowship Year

Application Deadline: Nov. 19, 2015, at 8 p.m. EST

The Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship (AEF) Program provides a unique opportunity for accomplished K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) educators to serve 11 months in a Federal agency or U.S. Congressional office. Einstein Fellows bring their extensive classroom knowledge and experience to their host offices to inform Federal STEM education efforts.

 

Past Einstein Fellows have:

• Designed and implemented national STEM education programs.

• Built partnerships among Federal agencies.

• Drafted legislation seeking to improve U.S. K-12 education and teacher preparation.

• Evaluated national STEM programs centered on school reform.

·   Designed and deployed digital and online learning tools for students and teachers.

To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens who are currently employed full time in a U.S. public or private elementary or secondary school or school district. Applicants must have been teaching full time in a public or private elementary or secondary school for at least five of the last seven years in a STEM discipline. 

Program applications are due Nov. 19, 2015, at 8 p.m. EST and must be submitted through an online application system.

Outreach Teacher Position History Take-Out Job Description

This is a paid, on-demand, non-benefited position with no guaranteed minimum/maximum hours
Outreach educators will be called when a school schedules a program to determine availability.
Programs take place Mondays through Fridays
Rate is $15/hour and each presentation with set up/strike is 2 hours, plus travel reimbursement ($.50/mile).

Position Purpose:
Outreach Educators will facilitate the fun, hands-on, 60 minute History Take-Out programs in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms in schools throughout the Denver metro area.

Introduction:
In order to meet increased demand for school-based field trip experiences, History Colorado offers History Take-Out facilitated outreach program to bring social studies education programs to 3rd and 4th grade classrooms throughout Colorado.

Essential Duties:
Attending training sessions
Travel to and from sites
Thorough understanding of the outreach programs
Set up and clean up of program materials
Facilitation of outreach programs in the classroom
Collection of feedback and evaluation from students and teachers

Outreach Educator Qualifications:
Some availability during the week between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Love working with children
Experience handling artifacts
Bachelor’s degree in education, history, museum studies, or other associated field OR current enrollment in an accredited education program
Current Colorado driver’s license and clean driving record
Personal vehicle
Hiring reliant upon clean background check

Compensation: Rate is $15/hour and each presentation with set up/strike is 2 hours, plus travel reimbursement ($.50/mile). Many schools schedule multiple classes on the same day.

An Effective Program Facilitator:
is lively and outgoing...has good communication skills…enjoys conversing with students…facilitates learning for students…is reliable, responsible, and a self-starter...is comfortable relating to a wide variety of audiences…is willing to learn…has some familiarity with history…is up for new challenges.

The Outdoor Experience Specialist ensures a consistently safe, enjoyable and educational experience for all Museum guests by assisting the Outdoor Experience Coordinator within Joy Park, the Museum’s Outdoor Exhibit. The Outdoor Experience Specialist, under the direction of the Outdoor Experience Coordinator, is responsible for day to day operations in Joy Park by ensuring quality and functionality of materials, equipment, and exhibit consumables in the space, as required. The Outdoor Experience Specialist helps to train and support staff and volunteers while in Joy Park to maintain a quality experience for Museum guests. The Outdoor Experience Specialist also facilitates and trains staff on daily programming, and may assist with other experiences and activities within the space.
